Man arrested in Kingston as person of interest in Florida death case also wanted in Colonie

KINGSTON – Ulster County
Sheriff’s deputies have arrested an Ormond Beach, Florida man, who
was wanted by local police in that community as a person of interest in
the suspicious death case of a woman that occurred at the Ridgecrest Mobile
Home Park in Ormond Beach.

Police there notified the sheriff’s office that Donald Place, 72,
might be in the Kingston area.

The dead woman was identified as 62-year-old Debra Jean Place.

On August 26 at about 7:30 p.m., deputies located Donald Place in a vehicle
in the Kingston Plaza. Investigation revealed he was also wanted by Town
of Colonie Police on warrant for felony grand larceny.

He was arrested in Kingston and released to the custody of Colonie Police.

Place was being held in the Albany County Jail pending further proceedings
in the grand larceny case and the results of further investigation by
Florida authorities.
