POUGHKEEPSIE – The two
candidates seeking the open State Supreme Court seat in the Ninth Judicial
District have been rated as “highly qualified” by the Dutchess
County Bar Association.
Both Christie Acker and Linda Murray were evaluated for their qualifications
for election to the Supreme Court.
Acker is seeking the Democratic nomination and Murray is seeking the Republican
nomination. Incumbent Justice Christine Sproat’s term will be up
at the end of the year and it is expected she will not seek re-election.
The Ninth Judicial District includes the counties of Dutchess, Orange,
Putnam, Rockland and Westchester.
Each political party will conduct nominating conventions in late September
to endorse candidates for the November election.
