MIDDLETOWN – An independent audit of Middletown’s finances for last year finds the city in sound financial condition.
Mayor Joseph DeStefano is pleased with the report from O’Connor Davies.
“I think we are the right path financially,” the mayor said. “They did encourage us to continue doing what we have been doing. We stayed under the tax cap for the last four years and I think we have a sound financial plan managed by our department heads in a more than adequate manner.”
Middletown’s surplus at the end of 2016 increased by $1 million over 2015 to $11 million.
