Man arrested for rape after telling victim he was a federal officer

POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughkeepsie man is being held without bail in the Dutchess County Jail on a charge of first-degree rape.
On Sunday at around 5:48 p.m., a 47-year-old Poughkeepsie city woman reported that while walking near 617 Main Street in the city she was stopped by a man who said he was a federal officer.
The victim was taken to the rear of 617 Main where he sexually assaulted her.
After the woman called 911 to report the attack, police officers stopped a man in the area, later identified as Harold Bruno, 23, who matched the description given by the victim. She identified Bruno as the man who attacked her.
Bruno was charged with rape and criminal impersonation.
