SLOATSBURG – The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery on Tuesday of a man’s body in the Ramapo River in the Eleanor Burlingham Memorial County Park, a 45-acre nature preserve in Sloatsburg.
Because the area is in the park, which is county property, the sheriff’s office is handling the investigation of what Day called a “tragic drowning.”
Police know the man’s identity, but have not yet made it public.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.” said County Executive Edwin Day.
