KINGSTON – The Ulster County shared services plan would save taxpayers $1.7 million annually.
County Executive Michael Hein submitted the detailed plan on Tuesday.
The six-point proposal includes the Town and Village of Saugerties sharing
one facility for their highway and DPW operations; a unified Ulster County
transit system; a joint Town-Village of New Paltz municipal center; locating
the county’s police dispatch and E-911 operations at the Ulster
County Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Center; Family Court conflict
defender swap between Ulster and Dutchess counties; and creating a county-municipal
purchasing consortium.
“Although implementing a local efficiency plan was included in the 2017-2018 New York State budget for the first time this year, we have always been focused on delivering more for less through innovative reforms that have earned Ulster County state-wide and national recognition,” said Hein.
