MOUNT VERNON – The City
of Mount Vernon has filed its 2017 Consolidated Funding Application with
the state. Officials hope to move forward following more than $2 million
in funding in 2016 for sewers and Memorial Field.

Mayor Richard Thomas said officials hope to more than double that figure
with the city’s latest application.

The grants include revitalizing the bridges over Metro-North railroad
tracks; further development of Memorial Field, investing in smart technology
to boost the city; and developing “exciting infrastructure investments
that will make out city more walkable, bikeable, and connected,”
Thomas said.
