Saugerties man charged with menacing with a shotgun

KINGSTON – City Police in Kingston have arrested a Saugerties man
for allegedly brandishing a shotgun during an altercation with several
people near softball fields in the area of Kingston Point.

Officers arrived at the scene on Wednesday, July 26 and arrested Tyler
Swart and Christopher Rogers, both 26 and from Saugerties as they were
leaving the area in a vehicle.

The police found a loaded 12 gauge shotgun in the vehicle and charged
Swart with brandishing the weapon during the altercation with others at
the ball fields. He was charged with two counts of criminal possession
of a weapon, menacing and endangering the welfare of a child. Swart was
remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail and $20,000
bond.

Rogers was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Kingston City Court at
a later date.
