KINGSTON – A 49-year-old Port Deposit, Maryland man pled guilty
in Ulster County Court on Tuesday to engaging in sex acts with a 14-year-old
girl.

Daniel Poole was charged with criminal sexual act and rape, both as felonies.

He admitted that in June 2016 he engaged in oral sex with the child in
Ulster County and that in October of the same year he returned and had
sexual intercourse with her.

Poole was arrested after he was spotted at the Ulster County Sheriff’s
Office K-9 training center in Rifton. Officers investigated and learned
Poole was there to meet a minor as he had done in the past.

It was later determined he met the girl online and had been engaging in
inappropriate exchanges with her online for almost a year. He had also
traveled to New York on several occasions to engage in sex acts knowing
the child was underage.

Poole faces up to 11 years in state prison when sentenced in October.
