KINGSTON – Ulster County Democratic Elections Commissioner Victor Work has stepped down from his post. He has decided to spend more time with his family.
County Committee Secretary Ashley Dittus cited medical issues and the retirement of his wife, Mary, as his reasons for leaving the post effective this past Friday.
County Chairman Frank Cardinale said Work will be missed by the committee.
“He has a lot of things that he wants to do now so he has made the wise decision to retire; not for us of course, we would love to have him stay,” Cardinale said. “But, I appreciate everything he has done for us over the years.”
The county Democratic Committee will hold a convention on July 27 to select a new commissioner.
Once the party nomination is made, it will be forwarded to the county legislature for its approval.
In the meantime, Dittus is serving as the county Democratic commissioner.
