Bar fight results in injuries to bartender, woman’s former boyfriend charged

SAUGERTIES – A Saugerties
man was arrested Friday night after he became engaged in an altercation
with his former girlfriend and her male companion.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Friday at Stella’s Station
at 150 Partition Street in the Village of Saugerties.

Saugerties Police were called to Stella’s Station for a report of
a physical altercation between Bryan Ploss, 45, his ex-girlfriend and
her male companion.

Ploss is alleged to have threatened the woman’s companion and spit
in her face. When the bartender attempted to intercede, Ploss punched
him in the face causing injuries.

Patrons tried to subdue Ploss who fled to the parking lot, but another
patrol was able to block him from leaving.

Responding Saugerties Police officers took him into custody in the parking
lot and charged him with assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and
harassment.

He was remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail.
