Four struck in Kingston crosswalk by motorist

KINGSTON – Four people were injured as they crossed Broadway in
Kingston near UPAC in a crosswalk and were struck by a car.

The accident at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, resulted in injuries to a
20-year-old woman, a 12-year-old and nine-year-old girls and an 18-month-old
baby girl. They were all transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment
following initial care at the Hudson Valley Health Alliance in Kingston.

The driver of the car, Robert Russell, 59, of Kingston, was arrested and
charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, failure to yield
right of way to pedestrians, and other vehicle and traffic violations.
Other criminal charged are pending, police said.

The investigation is continuing.

The Kingston Police Department Crash Management Team processed the crash
scene and the State Police assisted in the investigation.
