WHITE PLAINS – A Former speech and drama teacher at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, was sentenced to three years of probation with sex offender conditions after having pled guilty to two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of sexual abuse, all as misdemeanors.
Christopher Schraufnagel, 42, now living in New Jersey, was sentenced in New Castle Town Court.
From May 1, 2011 to June 5, 2015, Schraufnagel engaged in several instances of sexual assault, inappropriate sexual conduct and contact with three underage students of the school.
In a previous appearance in town court, he admitted subjecting two of the three victims to sexual contact.
The three years of probation with sex offender conditions includes working and residency restrictions as well as sex offender treatment. Probation supervision is expected to be transferred to the State of New Jersey.
David Engelsher is the attorney representing the four students. “This was closure for the defendant,” he said. “This was not closure for my clients. The hurt, the pain, the damage this man caused is permanent for the kids that I represent.”
