HUDSON – Columbia County Sheriff David Bartlett announced on Wednesday
that he plans to seek re-election in November.
The Kinderhook Republican said when he ran for four years ago, “I pledged to put deputies back into our public schools, enhance intra-agency cooperation, increase community policing, and work with area sportsmen to promote hunter safety education and awareness. I’m happy to report that I have kept those promises and done just that.”
Bartlett listed as other accomplishments the creation of the Columbia-Greene Shared Services Response Team – SWAT, upgraded equipment and readiness including equipping all patrol vehicles with computers and video cameras, and his agency’s push to combat the drug epidemic by committing additional resources to drug investigations, implementation of the county’s first Narcan Response Program, and the Vivitrol Program to help addicts stay sober when released from jail.
