New Rochelle police officer indicted in crash death

WHITE PLAINS – An off-duty New Rochelle police officer was indicted by a Westchester County grand jury in connection with a drunken driving crash that claimed the life of a man.
Harry Kyreakedes, 27, was out drinking with friends including the victim, Issac Ward, 27, at a bar in Dobbs Ferry and after a period of time, they drove to White Plains to frequent another bar.
Just before 3 a.m., all four men, left, taking two vehicles. The victim got into the passenger seat of Kyreakedes’ SUV. The driver crashed into a parking meter, stop sign and tree on Mamaroneck Avenue, resulting in Ward’s death.
A blood sample showed Kyreakedes had a blood alcohol content of more than .18 percent, over twice the legal limit.
He remains out on $50,000 bail on two counts of vehicular manslaughter, as well as aggravated driving while intoxicated.
