Zemsky: “New York State has gotten its mojo back”

STEWART AIRPORT – Dozens of commercial real estate brokers and site selectors spent the day in Orange County on Wednesday compliments of the Orange County Partnership.
The Commercial Real Estate Summit was centered at Stewart Airport where the guests were given opportunities to learn about available sites and infrastructure.
County Executive Steven Neuhaus said they had a large turnout from the New York metropolitan area. “We have all sorts of realtors, engineers and attorneys all working on great projects and looking to bring more in here,” Neuhaus said.
Among the locals attending was Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton, who was promoting the town’s corporate park at the site of the former Mid-Orange State Correctional Facility. “This gives us a chance to meet some national site selectors, get our site in front of them; it’s a great opportunity,” Sweeton said.
State Economic Development Commissioner Howard Zemsky addressed the attendees saying the state, and in particular, the Mid-Hudson Valley, is making significant rebounds. “New York State has gotten its mojo back in terms of envisioning the future,” Zemsky said.
The guests were treated to aerial views of Orange County via helicopter, and bus tours of some of the potential development sites.
Partnership officials say similar summits held in the past have resulted in solid leads and jobs.
