Second suspect arrested in 2015 Poughkeepsie murder

POUGHKEEPSIE – City Police
in Poughkeepsie Friday announced the arrest of a second man in connection
with the June 30, 2015 murder of Shameik Floyd near 200 Mansion Street.
Floyd, a 21-year-old Poughkeepsie resident, was shot once in the head.

The police department detective bureau, Dutchess County District Attorney’s
Office and State Department of Corrections Office of Special Investigations
Criminal Intelligence Division arrested Kaheem Cummings, 23, a former
Poughkeepsie resident on a charge of murder, two counts of criminal possession
of a weapon, two counts of robbery, conspiracy and tampering with physical
evidence, all as felonies.

Cummings has served time for robbery. He was returned to the state prison
system.

Last week, police announced the arrest of Trent Yant, 23, of Poughkeepsie
and charged him in Floyd’s murder. He was also charged with robbery,
conspiracy and tampering with physical evidence.

The investigation into the murder is continuing and police ask anyone
with information to call them at 845-451-7577.
