Warwick Town Police arrest two, large marijuana grow operation taken down

WARWICK – Town Police
in Warwick credit alert neighbors and sharp police work in arresting two
Bronx men and taking down a marijuana grow operation at a rented house
at 53 Horizons Farm Drive on Monday.

Some 275 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $360,000 were
seized in the operation, said Police Lt. Thomas Maslanka.

Police arrested the two men as they left the house while carrying large
boxes. One man fled while the other surrendered. The man, who fled was
apprehended a short time later by a police K-9 unit. The boxes turned
out to contain marijuana plants.

Both John DeJesus, 29, and Christian Toledo, 28, were each charged with
felony criminal possession of marijuana, criminal tampering and conspiracy
and were committed to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail each.

Once Warwick detectives determined a grow house was inside, the State
Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team was called in
to remediate the location.

Orange and Rockland Utilities was also called in to investigate the theft
of electric service.

Police continue to investigate the situation to determine if others were
involved.
