PEEKSKILL – Police do
not have a motive at this point, but a Peekskill man has been charged
with stabbing another local man twice in as many days.

The victim, a 23-year-old Peekskill man whose name police did not make
public, is in Westchester Medical Center in serious condition with stab
wounds to his chest and upper torso, said Peekskill Police Chief Eric
Johansen.

Billy Batallas-Fuentes, 23, also of Peekskill, was charged with first-degree
assault after being located at his home Wednesday morning by Peekskill
detectives. He was also charged with second-degree assault in connection
with the previous day’s stabbing.

The chief praised the investigative work of all officers involved in finding
and arresting Batallas-Fuentes. He also had praise for the Peekskill Fire
Department paramedics and Peekskill Ambulance Corps for the initial care
for the victim, who the chief said, likely saved his life.

City Police were assisted by the Westchester County Department of Public
Safety, which sent a K-9 and aviation unit to the scene Tuesday night.
Batallas-Fuentes evaded capture until Wednesday morning.

Anyone with additional information about this incident is asked to call
Peekskill detectives at 914-737-8000.
