Fourth round of GIVE crime-fighting grants announced

MID-HUDSON – Five grants in the Hudson Valley totaling $2.6 million were announced in the state’s latest GIVE – Gun Involved Violence Elimination initiative.
The initiative provides funding for 20 police departments in 17 counties reporting 83 percent of the violent crime that occurs in the state outside New York City.
Orange County will receive $829,592 for five agencies including the district attorney’s office, said DA David Hoovler.
The cities of Newburgh and Middletown, as well as the district attorney’s office, sheriff’s office and county probation to continue to fight gun involved crime.
Dutchess County will receive $341,350 for the Poughkeepsie City Police Department, DA, sheriff’s office and probation.
Ulster County will receive $219,925 for Kingston City Police, DA’s office, sheriff’s office and probation.
Westchester County will receive $1.15 million for the Yonkers and Mount Vernon city police departments, DA’s office, Department of Public Safety and probation department.
