Rockland County software engineer accused of attempted theft of trading code

NEW YORK – A Rockland County man was arrested by federal authorities and charged with attempted theft of trade secrets for his alleged attempted theft of proprietary computer code for a trading platform from his employer, a financial services firm with an office in Manhattan.
Dmitry Sazonov was employed by the company as a software engineer from
July 2004 through February 6, 2017 and was involved in the development
of trading strategies to be implemented in conjunction with the development
of an updates trading platform and had access to the source code.
On February 2 of this year, Sazonov learned his immediate supervisor had resigned and that on the following day he would be meeting another supervisor about his future role.  Before the meeting took place, Sazonov allegedly tried to steal the source code.
If convicted of attempted theft of trade secrets, he could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison and fined up to $250,000.
