WHITE PLAINS – A mother is charged with a misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the May 25, 2015 shooting death of her five-year-old daughter.
Tantania Manners, 24, now of Mount Vernon, was arrested on Wednesday night, April 12 by Yonkers Police detectives. The case stemmed from the incident two years ago in which her daughter got hold of an illegally permitted, unsecured and loaded firearm in the apartment and shot herself in the face, causing her death.
Manners was charged under the theory of creating an unsafe environment for her daughter by allowing sales and use of narcotics in the home as well as permitting the firearms to be stored in the apartment.
Manners was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail pending her next court appearance.
