MOUNT VERNON – Mayor Richard Thomas named two former Obama administration appointees to his Mount Vernon city administration.
Stay Brayboy is the new executive director of the city’s Industrial Development Agency.  Elvis Cordova and his firm have been appointed as consultants for the city’s Urban Renewal Agency.
Both Brayboy and Cordova were appointees by President Obama in the US Department of Agriculture.
Brayboy served the Obama White House as chief of staff for the chief financial officer and the Food and Nutrition Service in the Ag Department. Prior to joining the administration, she served as the deputy director of the Virginia Council on Human Rights for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Cordova is the principal of Statecraft Strategies, a consulting firm retained by the Urban Renewal Agency. He served in various leadership roles at the US Department of Agriculture, most recently as the acting under secretary for the Marketing and Regulatory Programs.
“These two individuals have an immense set of skills and a proven track record in transforming communities,” said Mayor Thomas. “Their global talent, matched with Mount Vernon’s energy, will result in a better quality of life and stronger economy.”
