Hoovler: Reaching
into the community

GOSHEN – Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler released
his 2016 annual report reflecting new initiatives he has implemented.
The report also outlines crime-related statistics since he took over as
chief prosecutor.
“In the three years since I have been in office, there has been a 119 percent increase in the prosecution of illegal drug sales, over 100 percent increase in drug sale indictments, a 1,200 percent increase in welfare fraud prosecution and we have reduced the cost of welfare benefits to Orange County citizens through fraud reduction by 277 percent,” the DA said.
Hoovler has introduced over 14 new initiatives including the Uncommon Athlete, a program of Rachel’s Challenge and the It’s on Us program, “where we are reaching into the communities and promoting a crime prevention method and empowering people to make sure they are not crime victims and when necessary, empowering them to seek treatment or seek help and embracing law enforcement to do that.”
