KINGSTON – The Public Health and Social Services Committee of the Ulster County Legislature Monday evening rejected a memorializing resolution seeking full repeal of Obamacare.
Committee Chairman Craig Lopez said with only three members present, it required a unanimous vote and he wasn’t ready to approve it without an amendment.
“There was language that alluded to for-profit health clinics potentially losing coverage that the sponsor couldn’t explain how it was related to the potential repeal of the Affordable Care Act,” he said. Lopez wanted to learn more about it before voting in favor of repeal, but he said the sponsor, Chris Allen, wanted it voted on in committee.
Allen could seek permission to place his measure directly on the floor
of the next full legislative sesson.
