DOVER – Two Poughkeepsie residents were arrested late Wednesday afternoon shortly after they allegedly committed a home invasion burglary in Dover.
Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Justino Reyes, 38, and Kayla Brooks, 21, shortly after they fled the scene on Christiansen Lane when a vehicle matching the description of the getaway car was spotted nearby.
The pair allegedly forced their way into a residence and assaulted a person inside. He suffered minor injury and while the motive is still under investigation, police said the incident is not believed to be random.
Reyes and Brooks were charged with felony burglary. Reyes is being held without bail. Brooks is in the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
The investigation is continuing with more charges possible, deputies said.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by State Police.
