Ellenville man, wanted in domestic assault, turns himself in

ELLENVILLE – An Ellenville man, wanted in connection with an early
Thursday morning domestic assault, turned himself in to Ellenville Police
that evening.

Investigation of the incident that led to the charges revealed that Rasheed
Sheik Hassan, 24, allegedly entered the female victim’s residence
without her consent and in violation of an order of protection at around
12:30 a.m.
He punched the victim in the face, took her cell phone and repeatedly
threatened her in the presence of their two-year-old child, refusing to
let her leave the residence.

Another female friend was also in the apartment.

Hassan fled before police arrived, but he turned himself in on an arrest
warrant at 7 p.m.

He was charged with burglary, criminal contempt, aggravated family offense,
criminal mischief, unlawful imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a
child and harassment.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $50,000
cash bail or $100,000 bond.
