MIDDLETOWN – Alderwoman Sandy Sommers resigned Tuesday effective immediately because of continued health issues. She represented the City of Middletown’s Fourth Ward.
Common Council members and Mayor Joseph DeStefano expressed their appreciation for her years on the council and wished her speedy recovery.
It will be up to the mayor to appoint a replacement for the remainder of this year.
The council is comprised of two members in each of four wards and an alderman-at-large who serves as the council president.
