Two feet of snow too much for this structure

PORT JERVIS – The roof on the rear portion of a building at 55 East Main Street in Port Jervis collapsed late Saturday morning, presumably from the weight of snow that had piled up from the storm this week. Two feet or more of snow was dumped on the region from the blizzard from which many communities are still recuperating.
As a result of the roof collapse and buckling of walls on the addition to the restaurant building, the city council met in emergency session and decided the addition should be leveled. The damaged rear section housed the kitchen.
When the collapse was reported, Port Jervis Police and Fire departments responded to the scene.
The damaged area was cordoned off. There were no reports of injuries.
