Convenience store robbery coordinated with employee, troopers say

KINDERHOOK – State Police arrested a Valatie woman, who they allege coordinated an armed robbery of the Stewart’s convenience store in Kinderhook.
Amanda Craig, 20, worked at the store and coordinated the robbery with Phillip Schmidt, 23, of Stockport, who was arrested days earlier and charged with armed robbery and criminal possession of a weapon, a knife.
On March 13, Schmidt allegedly entered the store at about 11:15 p.m. armed with a knife, demanded money and made off with an undetermined amount of cash. He is in the the Columbia County Jail without bail.
On Thursday, the ongoing investigation led to the arrest of Craig, who is being held in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
