Depew: “I am really excited”

MONTICELLO – Wallkill Town Supervisor Daniel Depew will be resigning
in one month to become Sullivan County’s first deputy county manager.

The Sullivan County Legislature on Thursday voted to place Depew in that position. He will be working with County Manager Joshua Potosek.
Depew said the job change is an opportunity he could not turn down.
“I am really excited about the ability to be able to continue my career in public service and do so on a management end,” he said. Depew began his career in government 15 years ago as an Orange County legislator and has served as town supervisor for the last 5 ½ years.
Among his administration’s accomplishments, Depew said Wallkill cut the cash flow deficit by millions and raised the town’s Standard and Poor’s bond rating, raised the awareness of the town’s name, protected open space, restructured management, created an Office of Human Resources, and continued to grow orderly economic development.
It is expected that Town Councilman Eric Valentin will serve as acting supervisor through the end of the year.
Depew will earn $110,000 annually in his new position.
