New Paltz police check bars for underage drinking, charge 16 people

NEW PALTZ – A total of 16 people were charged out of 150 checked during last Saturday’s underage drinking prevention check at all of the open bars in the Town and Village of New Paltz.
Local Police and investigators from the state Department of Motor Vehicles conducted a special detail to target and prevent underage drinking in bars.
Seven people were charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Two others were charged with possession of a forged instrument. Two other people were charged with the violation of possession of an alcoholic beverage while being under the age of 21.
Police did not specify the charges against the other four people arrested.
