POUGHKEEPSIE — Dr. Anil Vaidian (Why’ – dian) has been named
the new commissioner of Behavioral and Community Health by County Executive
Marcus Molinaro. His appointment is subject to confirmation by the county
legislature later this month.

Molinaro said Dr. Vaidian is a perfect fit for the needs of the county.

“He possesses the right skills, the right drive, the right personality,
for what is a very critical department for us,” Molinaro said. “Our
merged Department of Behavioral and Community Health provides public health
service, response to issues of mental health and Dr. Vaidian will be a
great addition to the department and we look forward to him leading our
efforts to make Dutchess County the healthiest county in the state of
New York.”
Dr. Vaidian has served for the last 10 years with the Rockland County
Department of Health, most recently as the director of Disease Control
and Prevention. Prior to his work in Rockland, he served in Westchester
County Government’s Division of Disease Control.
