CLAVERACK – Two Columbia County men were arrested and charged with felony drug possession in the Town of Claverack. The arrests were the result of a multi-agency one-month joint drug investigation.
Authorities executed a search warrant at an apartment at 219 Old Lane Extension in Claverack and arrested Levar Young, 38, of Claverack on four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, as felonies, as well as one count of felony possession of marijuana.
Also charged was Roger DeLease, Jr., 37, of Ancram, who was arrested on one count of felony drug possession.
Officers recovered over 71 grams of heroin, which amounts to about 2,000 bags with an approximate street value of $10,650.  Also recovered were 38 grams of crack cocaine, over one pound of marijuana and over $1,000 in cash.
“This was a significant operation that yielded a large quantity of drugs,” said Sheriff David Bartlett.
Participating in the investigation were Columbia County Sheriff’s investigators and deputies, State Police and investigators from the Capital District Drug Enforcement Task Force of the DEA.
