New Paltz man arrested following report of domestic dispute

NEW PALTZ – A New Paltz man is being held without bail in the Ulster County Jail on several charges after a report of a domestic dispute where an order of protection was being violated.
On Friday, March 3 at 12:35 a.m., New Paltz Police responded to Partington
Place in the town where they found the suspect, Austin Bayne, 33, outside
the victim’s residence.
While being interviewed, police said he showed signs of impairment and
said he had driven his car to the residence from a local restaurant.
Bayne was arrested for criminal contempt and charged with driving while intoxicated. Further investigation revealed he was involved in a property damage accident while driving to the victim’s home and once there, entered and struck her while in the presence of a small child.
Police also found over one pound of marijuana in the trunk of his car.
