Latest Newburgh murder victim to be laid to rest on Saturday

NEWBURGH – A funeral service
for Gevontay Owens Grant, the 21-year-old Newburgh man who died after
being shot while at a Valentine’s Day party in the city, will be
held at 6 p.m. Friday at The House of Refuge on Lower Broadway in the
City of Newburgh.

The party was being held in the basement of 253 South William Street in
Newburgh. When gunfire rang out, three other people were also struck and
wounded.

Grant was the son of Tamika Owens Wilder and Howard Defreece. He is also
survived by three sisters, a brother, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Authorities continue to investigate the shootings.
