Woman pleads guilty to stealing $1 million from her employer

WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers woman, who worked as a part-time personal
assistant has pled guilty in Westchester County Court to felony grand
larceny for allegedly stealing $987,428 from her employer.

From January 12, 2009 through May 2014, Joann Perrino, 60, used accounts
in the name of the victim for her own personal use and made car and mortgage
payments, paid for travel and spa treatments, and on one occasion, spent
$4,366 on clothing.

She opened an account in her name, initiated transfers and wrote checks
from her victim’s account to pay for her own personal expenses and
those of her family without the knowledge, permission or authority of
the victim.

Perrino was arrested by Mamaroneck Town Police in May 2014 following an
investigation by the Westchester District Attorney’s Office.

She remains out on $50,000 bail.

She faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in state prison and must make
restitution of $987,428.
