WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers woman, who is a New York City Police psychologist,
pled guilty in Westchester County Court on Friday to a charge of attempted
assault for shooting her husband.

Kenneth Darden woke up with a pain on the left side of his head at 4 a.m.
on November 14, 2013. He was taken to the hospital where it was determined
he had been shot. He was then transferred to a trauma center and spent
eight days at Westchester Medical Center where he underwent surgery to
remove a .22 caliber bullet from his jaw.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and returned to the crime scene and
on November 21, 2014, Yonkers detectives arrested Dearden’s wife,
Emily Dearden,48, who is presently out on bail.

At the time of the shooting, the couple’s children were sleeping
only a few feet away.

Police did not reveal the motive for the shooting.

When sentenced in June, Mrs. Dearden faces 15 years in state prison.
