BLOOMING GROVE – Police
in the Town of Blooming Grove are alerting residents to beware of men
showing up at their doorstep claiming to be from Orange and Rockland Utilities
and needing to check their electrical panel in order to save them money.

On Tuesday, February 14, two men came to a house in South Booming Grove
and spoke to the resident, an elderly woman. She was told they could save
her money on her electric bill if they could go in the basement to check
the equipment. She told them they could not, but to come back the following
day,

When they arrived, she did not let them in, but called police. They were
gone by the time the officers arrived.

Both times they arrived in a dark colored car with no markings on the
vehicle and no company identification.

Both suspects were described as white men in their 20 20s to 30s. One
was short and thin with dark hair and a small scruff on his chin. He did
all of the talking. The other man, who did not talk, was short and a bit
heavier with light color hair.

If you are paid a visit like this, police advise not to let the people
in the house, ask for company ID and call the police when they are there,
if possible.
