Clerk fights off suspect in attempted gas station robbery

CORTLANDT MANOR – The clerk at the Mobil gas station on Crompond Road in Cortlandt Manor is credited with preventing the store from being robbed.
State Police from the Cortlandt barracks said a would-be robber entered the store just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, armed with a weapon.  The clerk resisted and following a struggle, the suspect fled on foot westbound on Route 202.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man with a light olive complexion, overweight, with no facial hair, and a Spanish accent.  He was wearing a blue winter coat with a hood, dark green pants, a light brown shirt, light colored footwear, a dark covering on the lower portion of his face, dark gloves and a black hat.
