Driver escaped, with injuries
RHINEBECK – A dump truck that rolled over at a new home construction site on Wynkoop Lane in the Town of Rhinebeck early Tuesday afternoon destroyed the engine compartment and cab.
The driver was able to escape the overturned vehicle without injury and the construction crew used an excavator to right the truck.
The snow and ice conditions contributed to the rollover of the truck, fire officials said.
Rhinebeck firefighters responded to extinguish the fire. One slipped and fell on the ice and snow sustaining injury to his leg and ankle. He was transported to by Northern Dutchess Paramedics to Northern Dutchess Hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment. Assisting at the scene were the Rhinebeck Police and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
