ALBANY – Legislation to
require acute care facilities and nursing homes to implement direct-care
nurse to patient ratios and set minimum staffing requirements is working
its way through the state Assembly.
The bill has several cosponsors including Karl Brabenec (R, Deerpark), who supports the efforts of the healthcare professionals.
“These professionals are on the front lines of providing care and understaffing and lack of resources they face on a daily basis needs to end immediately,” Brabanec said.
Other co-sponsors of the measure include Democratic Assembly Members Aileen Gunther of Forestburgh, Ellen Jaffee of Nanuet, Frank Skartados of Milton, James Skoufis of Woodbury, and Ken Zebrowski of Orangeburg.
