ALBANY – A 71-year-old retired Marlboro Central School District
teacher has been arrested and charged with distributing, receiving and
possessing child pornography. (read
federal criminal complaint)

Thomas Albright was arrested on January 12, appeared the following day
in US Magistrate Court in Albany and was detained pending further court
proceedings.

Marlboro Superintendent of Schools Michael Brooks said Albright worked
for the district as a teacher from September 1970 until June 2002. In
an email to Mid-Hudson News, Brooks said since his retirement, Albright
has periodically worked as a lifeguard and substitute. He last worked
for the district as a lifeguard in September 2016, the superintendent
said.

According to the federal complaint filed against him, Albright admitted
to authorities that he searched for, downloaded and collected images and
videos of young boys.

On January 12, 2017, he consented to a polygraph test. “During the
course of the examination, Albright admitted to a long-time attraction
to young male boys between the ages of 14 and 17,” the federal complaint
read.

If convicted of all charges, Albright faces from five to 20 years in federal
prison, five years to life of post-imprisonment supervised release and
a maximum $250,000 fine. He would also have to register as a sex offender.
