Ronk: “… we’ve really come
a long way …”
KIKINGSTON – Kenneth Ronk remains the chairman of the Ulster County Legislature, with solid bipartisan support, from the evenly divided body.
The Republican leader’s nomination even received a second, from Democrat Thomas Briggs.
“I believe from a leadership role, as a chairman, he has brought us all together in some difficult times and I think he fairly looks at both sides, makes informed decisions, and has been asset to not only this legislature but the people of the County of Ulster,” Briggs said.
Ronk said they are coming off a good year and he hopes the momentum continues.
“We’ve had a lot of ups and downs over the past year; we’ve had some struggles and some hard times and some good times,” Ronk said. “But, I think that we’ve really come a long way in working together, for the most part. We’re always going to have policy disagreements and we’re always going to disagree on individual regional issues in the county, but I think that the body over the last year has worked as a body, together, more than we have since the beginning of the Charter.”
That was nine years ago, in 2008.
Mary Beth Maio remains Republican Majority Leader. Hector Rodriguez continues as Democrat Minority Leader.
