GOSHEN – The Orange County grand jury has indicted Jauntae Brown,
the 20-year-old Spring Valley man, in the killing of Silver Lake firefighter
Justin Speights on New Year’s morning of 2016.
Speights, also 20, was stabbed to death with a knife when he tried to
break up a fight outside a house party.
The indictment charges Brown with murder, manslaughter, tampering with
physical evidence and criminal possession of a weapon.
It took law enforcement almost a year to track down and put together leads
that led to Brown’s arrest.
Two other men were also arrested for allegedly tampering with physical
evidence in the case.
