Toll collectors handed cards with red ribbons to vehicles
not using E-ZPass

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – The New York State Thruway Authority, Mothers
Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and New York State Police Troop T continued
a 30-year tradition on Wednesday by handing out red ribbon reminders to
drivers passing through the tolls at four places along the Thruway.
One of the locations was the toll plaza off Interstate 84 and Route 300
in eastern Orange County.
Thruway Authority Division of Tolls Manager Ernest Davis said it is something they believe in.
“The New York State Thruway is one of the safest highways
in the world and we’re extremely proud of that record,” Davis
said.  “Anything that we can do to help bring safety awareness
to our customers is something that we’re all about.  Our toll
collectors, this is something that they look forward to every year.”
Ribbons were also handed out at Albany, Syracuse and Lackawanna.
No MADD representative attended the Newburgh area media briefing.
