ALBANY – Corrections officers assigned to state prisons and mental hygiene facilities in the Mid-Hudson Valley and the rest of the state have reached a tentative contract agreement with Albany.
Governor Cuomo and Michael Powers, president of the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association announced the tentative contract for the more than 20,000 employees the union represents.
The five-year pact provides for a two percent wage increase in each year from 2016 through 2020, recurring health insurance savings, recurring overtime savings and reforms to the discipline process.
Powers, calling the agreement “fair and equitable,” said the men and women in the union “work under some of the most dangerous conditions, and play a vital role in the law enforcement community that makes New York one of the safest states in the nation.”
