KINGSTON – The Ulster
County Legislature is now listing the number of boards, commissions and
committees online on its website. Legislature Chairman Kenneth Ronk said
his goal is to bring “more openness and transparency to government.”
Posting the listings online will be a “tool to enhance and encourage
public participation in local government.”

Advisory boards and commissions work on issues from conservation and human
rights to solid waste management and recreational trails.

Members are appointed by a variety of methods to ensure representation
with certain expertise, responsibilities and appropriate stakeholders.
Ronk said county residents are invited to explore the listing of boards,
commissions and committees and apply for openings.

Persons interested in participating in county government may log onto
