NEW CITY – The state Department of Environmental Conservation Hudson River Estuary fund granted Rockland County $106,250 to replace docks at its Haverstraw Bay Park with handicapped accessible ones. The funds will also pay for an ADA-compliant kayak launch.
More than 125,000 people visit the park each year and more than 700 boats launch from there.
“Haverstraw Bay has become one of our most popular county parks and we want everyone to be able to enjoy and use the facilities,” said County Executive Edwin Day.
The county hopes that the work will be completed by late spring.
