MIDDLETOWN – The second
craft brewery has opened in Middletown and city officials believe between
the two of them, they will attract more business and tourists to the downtown.

Middletown’s second craft brewery

Entrepreneur Ricardo Petroni looks forward to doing business in Middletown.
“Craft breweries are about local and we think there are a lot of people who will consume beer when it is good. It is turning into something that doesn’t need a big volume so we are not competing with breweries so far away,” Petroni said.
Mayor Joseph DeStefano is thrilled that the city now has two craft breweries – Clemson Brothers and now, Equilibrium.
“Incentivizing breweries in New York State has been just such a boon for Middletown. For a community to have one brewery is one thing, but to have a second, and this is a different operation, and will focus a long on wholesale and tourism coming in, and we appreciate your investment,” the mayor said.
The new brewery, operated by Petroni with his partner, Peter Oates, is occupying a former meat packing building. They are already distributing to local bars and restaurants in the Mid-Hudson Valley and New York City.
A recent Facebook poll, which had 10,000 entries, rated Equilibrium number five, Petroni said.
